Wittman Statement on Obama Administration's Political Plan to Veto Defense Bill

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) issued the following statement in response to an Administration memo outlining a plan to veto legislation that provides funding for our military and pay increases for our troops:

"For decades, Congress has worked together—in spite of party division—to draft and enact legislation that supports and protects our war fighters and bolsters our national security. Only during this Administration has politics become a barrier to cooperation, even at the Pentagon. More than 10 percent of Virginia's population is made up of military families and Veterans, and this politicization of policy means those folks can't depend on the pay and benefits improvements they've earned and deserve. I urge the President to put aside politics and do what's right for our men and women in uniform."
