Wittman Statement on Biden Withholding Arms Shipments to Israel

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released the following statement on the Biden administration withholding arms shipments to Israel:

"President Biden's decision to withhold critical arms shipments to Israel is an insult to our only true democratic ally in the Middle East. It is more critical than ever that the United States supports Israel's right to defend itself and its mission to eliminate Hamas terrorists.

"By attempting to force Israel to cut a deal with Hamas and hold back military operations, President Biden is lessening the pressure on Hamas to release the remaining innocent Israeli and American hostages still being held in Gaza.

"I proudly voted for the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act last month to send urgent military aid to Israel. President Biden's effort to hold up this assistance contravenes the will of Congress and weakens the U.S.-Israel relationship.

"The president must allow these arms shipments to proceed so that Israel can defend itself and defeat Hamas."
