Wittman Statement on 11th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement observing the eleventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:

"It is hard to believe that 11 years have passed since our nation was attacked on her own soil. Too many innocent lives were lost. We lost loved ones, friends, colleagues and neighbors, many from our great Commonwealth of Virginia. Since the moment of attack in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania, our country has witnessed bravery, strength and the resilience of the American spirit. Everyday Americans became heroes that day and many more have emerged during the recovery. Our nation's armed forces answered the call to fight back, to deploying across the world away from their families to keep us safe. They fought knowing the harsh reality of battle; many of them were wounded, and many gave the ultimate sacrifice. We must never forget the sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women or that of our fellow citizens who perished on that tragic September day in 2001. May God continue to bless the families of the victims, our nation's armed forces and the future and freedom of this great nation."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
