Thursday, October 25, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman received the Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence today from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) at a ceremony hosted by NAM member organization Owens-Illinois in Toano, Virginia. This award is given to members of Congress who have shown consistent support for the manufacturing sector during the 112th Congress.

"Manufacturing jobs are so vital for Virginia and the nation, and our economy and defense industrial base depend on a robust manufacturing sector," Wittman said. "I am honored to receive this award from the National Association of Manufacturers, an organization which truly understands the importance of getting government out of the way of our small businesses, and I will continue to pursue smart policies in Washington that facilitate an environment of job creation across our nation."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. Since his election to Congress in 2007, Wittman has consistently supported legislation aimed at strengthening the manufacturing sector and promoting innovation, economic growth, and job creation. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

NAM is a nonpartisan organization established in 1895 that advocates for a healthy manufacturing sector. For more information, please visit: www.nam.org
