Wittman, Lieu Launch Bipartisan Congressional Toy Caucus

Tuesday, May 20, 2025

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA-01) and Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA-36) relaunched the bipartisan Congressional Toy Caucus, highlighting the U.S. toy industry's critical role as a driver of economic growth, innovation, and job creation across the country.

The Toy Caucus will address key issues impacting the industry, including online protections for children, supply chain resilience, and the fight against illegal and counterfeit toys. The caucus will also champion sustainability initiatives that strengthen long-term economic and environmental viability.

"America's toy industry plays a vital role in our economy, supporting countless jobs and strengthening communities nationwide," said Congressman Wittman. "I'm proud that Virginia's First District is home to a major LEGO Group packaging site that is being expanded thanks to a $1 billion investment from LEGO, creating over 1,700 jobs over 10 years. I remain committed to advocating for product safety and equitable trade practices."

"The American toy industry plays an important role in the education and development of children all across this country," said Congressman Lieu. "My congressional district is home to Mattel—the makers of countless toys, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Fisher-Price. Toys are essential for our children to safely learn and grow. I'm pleased to co-chair the congressional Toy Caucus to ensure product safety, strengthen American businesses, and promote our children's development."

"We are grateful to Representatives Wittman and Lieu for their leadership in co-chairing the bipartisan Congressional Toy Caucus and revitalizing it as a vital forum for the U.S. toy industry," said Greg Ahearn, president and CEO of The Toy Association. "Their commitment will help elevate the critical role the toy industry plays in the healthy development of American children."

The U.S. toy industry is a powerful engine for economic growth, driving opportunity for small businesses and showcasing American excellence in design and ingenuity. With an annual economic impact of over $100 billion, it supports more than half a million jobs and generates tens of billions in wages for hard working Americans.
