Wittman Leads Farm Tour Across the Northern Neck

Tuesday, August 5, 2025

RICHMOND COUNTY, VA – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) toured several farms in the Northern Neck, engaging directly with Virginia's farmers to discuss issues impacting American agriculture.

"Supporting our nation's farmers and producers is critical—not only for Virginia but for the entire country," said Rep. Wittman. "That's why I voted in favor of H.R.1, legislation that makes small business tax deductions permanent and reduces the tax burden on our agricultural land—ensuring farmers can pass their operations down to the next generation. I am grateful to the farmers and hosts of this tour, and I look forward to working with Virginia's First District farmers to provide them with the tools they need to continue their vital work of keeping the world fueled and fed."

Virginia's First District is home to over 1,500 farms covering nearly 560,000 acres. An impressive 92% of these farms are family-owned, generating more than $93 million annually for the Commonwealth. For many Virginians, farming is more than a profession—it's a way of life that deserves ongoing support and protection.

To foster stronger engagement with farmers and the communities they serve, Congressman Wittman joined local farmers and industry representatives for lunch and a policy discussion. Topics included sustainability, innovation, workforce development, and the impact of federal policies on regional agriculture.

Participants included:

Timmy and Jane Lynn Scott Farm
