Wittman Hosts a Tax Roundtable with Local Businesses and U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Friday, July 11, 2025

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Rob Wittman (VA-01) hosted an in-district roundtable with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The roundtable brought together local business owners to discuss their experiences and the impact tax reform will have on their businesses. The discussion focused specifically on the pro-growth provisions in H.R. 1, signed into law on July 4th, which are vital to maintaining America's prosperity and creating new opportunities for workers and businesses.

"Virginians want a tax system that supports working families, encourages job creation, and holds Washington accountable," said Congressman Wittman. "This roundtable was an important conversation about how the pro-growth business tax provisions in H.R. 1 will impact local employers, create new opportunities for workers, and strengthen our economy. I want every resident of Virginia's First District to know that my office is always here to listen and to advocate for policies that lower costs, reduce the tax burden, and strengthen opportunities for all."

Virginia's First District is home to over 59,000 small businesses that would have faced a devastating 43.4% federal tax rate had the One Big Beautiful Bill Act not passed. By making the small business deduction permanent and protecting families from a $1,700 tax increase, H.R. 1 delivers real relief to Virginia workers, farmers, and entrepreneurs.

Panel Participants Included:

  • Clark Jackson, US Chamber

  • Trey Hayden, CodeBlue Logistics

  • Rachel Ledbetter, U.S. Chamber of Commerce

  • Carter Whitelow, Virginia Chamber

  • Andrew Sinclair, Virginia Chamber Foundation

This bipartisan legislation expands the tax advantages of 529 savings plans to cover job training, licenses, and certifications, helping Virginians access the education and skills they need to succeed.
