Wittman Applauds House Passage of FY27 NDAA

Wednesday, July 22, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01), vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and chairman of the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee, highlighted the House passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27)

“This year’s NDAA comes at a critical moment for our nation,” said Rep. Wittman. “With adversaries like China, North Korea, Iran, and Russia accelerating the production of advanced technologies, the NDAA keeps the U.S. on the course to counter these threats. This year’s bill takes significant steps to revitalize our defense industrial base, improve servicemembers’ quality of life, and strengthen deterrence capabilities so that we remain the most prepared and lethal fighting force in the world.”

Background:

On June 5, 2026, the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act passed out of the House Armed Services Committee. This NDAA includes numerous provisions Congressman Wittman championed to strengthen America’s naval fleet, accelerate defense innovation, modernize our military capabilities, improve servicemember quality of life, and support next-generation nuclear energy development. It also authorizes $843.282 million in military construction projects across Virginia, including $130.662 million for projects at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown in Virginia’s First District.
