Monday, May 3, 2021

WASHINGTON- Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released the following statement in response to the Senate's passage of the Water Resources Research Act of 2021:

"The Senate's passage of the Water Resources Research Act of 2021 goes to show there's still room for bipartisan cooperation in Washington. This bill will go a long way toward developing locally-tailored solutions to modern water challenges, including quality and supply. I applaud the passage of this bill and hope to see its passage in the House as quickly as possible."

Congressman Wittman introduced the Water Resources Research Act of 2021 in the House on April 22nd alongside a bipartisan coalition, including Democratic Representatives Josh Harder and Grace Napolitano, both of California. This bill would reauthorize an expired program supporting local water research institutes. By reauthorizing this program, the bill will solve problems related to water quantity and quality in collaboration with universities, local governments, industry, and the public.

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves as the ranking member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.
