November 11, 2010: Congressman Wittman Honors Nation's Veterans

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Washington, DC – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) today released the following statement honoring the nation's veterans as the country observes Veterans' Day tomorrow:

"Though our nation is faced with many challenges, we must never take for granted the great freedoms that we enjoy because of the sacrifice of others. We remain a strong country because we have the strongest and most capable military the world has ever known. We observe Veterans Day to officially call for remembrance of our nation's heroes who have given so much in the name of freedom; it is important to honor the fallen and all those who have helped secure the liberties we enjoy today. In America's First District, many active duty military, veterans, and their families know firsthand the price of freedom. Today, our nation humbly thanks the servicemembers and veterans in the First District, in Virginia, and across the country.

"While today we remember veterans, we must also remember the sacrifices of their families. The success of our nation depends on the critical support of those families behind the men and women serving across the world, yesterday, today and tomorrow."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the Natural Resources Committee and the Armed Services Committee where he is the Ranking Member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
