May 13, 2009: Congress Wittman Comments on Chesapeake Bay Executive Order

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

"I am encouraged by the President's attention and focus on restoring the Chesapeake Bay. I commend his efforts today to issue an executive order establishing a Federal Leadership Committee for the Chesapeake Bay.

During my time in Washington I have advocated for increased accountability of Bay restoration activities. I am pleased to see that the Administration has echoed some of the themes of my legislation, the Chesapeake Bay Accountability and Recovery Act. Today's efforts are important steps, I look forward to continuing to work with the Administration and my colleagues in Congress and in Richmond to improve water quality and restore the Chesapeake Bay."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He was elected to his first full term in November 2008 and serves on the Natural Resources Committee and the Armed Services Committee where he is the Ranking Member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
