May 1, 2008: Funding Secured for Bus Services in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck

Thursday, May 1, 2008
(Washington, DC) - Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA) announced today that Bay Transit will be receiving a grant of $618,661 from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the engineering, design, and construction of a new bus maintenance and administration building.

The facility will be located in Warsaw, Virginia, and will include a maintenance bay and a separate wash bay area.  Bay Transit is a division of Bay Aging and operates a public transportation bus system serving nine counties and three towns in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck of Virginia.

"Bay Transit provides vital bus services to these communities, and I am pleased to announce this grant," said Wittman.  "Virginians deserve a safe and reliable means of public transportation, especially in light of the outrageous gasoline prices we've recently experienced.  This funding will help provide Bay Transit with the bus and administrative facilities they need to continue to serve our area."
