March 17, 2009: Congressman Wittman Statement on President's Proposed Reduction of Veterans Health Benefits

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

"I was outraged when I heard of the President's proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the healthcare of veterans who have been injured while serving our country. These men and women were promised healthcare when they signed up to serve our great nation, and it is unconscionable that our country might not pay for their service-connected health needs."

"I will do everything I can to fight this proposal and to stand up for the finest service members in the world. Since I was first elected to Congress, I have supported legislation to keep the promises that were made to Americans when they first signed up to serve our country. They deserve no less."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He was elected to his first full term in November 2008 and serves on the Natural Resources Committee and the Armed Services Committee where he is the Ranking Member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
