January 30, 2008: Congressman Rob Wittman's Statement on Rep. Tom Davis' Decision Not to Seek Re-Election

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

(Washington D.C.) - Today, U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-NY) announced that he will retire at the end of this, his 7th term in the House of Representatives. Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA), issued the following statement:

"Since 1994, Tom Davis has been a strong and steady voice for the 11th Congressional District of Virginia. Throughout his nearly three decades of public service Tom has achieved a long and distinguished record of getting things done for his constituents. His time as Chairman of the House Government Reform Committee led to several successes, notably his leadership on bringing the issue of steroids in professional sports to the public's attention. He has been a tremendous asset to the voters of Fairfax and Prince William Counties and the Commonwealth of Virginia. His departure from the Congress will be a loss for us all."
