December 7, 2011: Wittman Appointed to 2012 National Defense Authorization Act Conference Committee

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) today was named a conferee on H.R.1540, the Fiscal Year 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), by House Speaker John Boehner. Conferees, appointed from the House and Senate, will meet to work out the differences between the legislation passed in each respective Chamber. Wittman supported H.R. 1540 in its passage in the House of Representatives on May 26, 2011. The legislation passed the Senate on December 1, 2011.

"I am humbled to take part in a critical component of the legislative process, in working out critical details of the NDAA," Wittman said. "This annual defense authorization legislation provides direction for the important missions and priorities of our nation's armed forces and includes many important provisions that ensure service members and their families have the resources and support they need and deserve. I look forward to working with colleagues from the House and Senate in resolving the differences in the legislation."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
