December 16, 2011: Wittman Votes Against Hasty, 1,200-page Spending Measure

Friday, December 16, 2011

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) today voted against H.R. 2055, the Conference Report for the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012.

"This bill is an unfortunate example of the broken budgeting process and lack of transparency in Washington," Wittman said. "I voted against this bill because there was no opportunity for open debate and examination of each spending measure. While the bill contained worthy provisions that I whole-heartedly support such as military construction, defense, and veterans funding, I could not support this legislation that breaks promises of transparency and fiscal responsibility."

Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
