Congressional Art Competition

Each spring, the Congressional Institute and participating Members of Congress sponsor a nationwide high school visual art competition that recognizes and encourages artistic talent in each congressional district.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students currently living in the First District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nation-wide.

Art works entered in the contest may be up to 26” x 26” x 4”, entries may include:

* Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
* Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.)
* Collages: must be two dimensional
* Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
* Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
* Computer-generated art
* Photographs

All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution.

Each student must submit a typed 2024 Student Information & Release Form with his or her entry.

To enter, please drop off your artwork at my Glen Allen, Yorktown, or Tappahannock office, or send a photo along with the Student Information & Release Form to Grayson.Jenkins@mail.house.gov.

All artwork must be submitted no later than close of business on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024.
