UPDATE: Economic Impact Payments ($1200)

Friend–

Last week, I sent an email to folks who may have had questions regarding the Economic Impact Payments ($1200 payments to individuals as part of the CARES Act). Now, I want to provide you a quick update on the status of the payouts from the Treasury Department and the IRS.

Treasury Secretary Mnuchin announced that nearly 80 million Americans will have received an Economic Impact Payment through direct deposit by the end of Wednesday.

The Secretary said that Americans who are eligible and do not receive this payment through direct deposit will be able to submit information to the IRS starting today to have this money processed. In addition, the Treasury Department announced the launch of a "Get My Payment" app that will allow taxpayers who filed their tax return in 2018 or 2019 but did not provide their banking information to submit direct deposit information.

The IRS has a webpage devoted to answering questions about this program, including clarity on if individuals need to take any action in order to receive this payment.

Should you have any questions about this process or if you have questions about anything related to the Coronavirus response by federal, state, or local governments, please visit my website or contact my office directly by calling (202) 225-4261 and leaving a message which we will respond to with the relevant information. You can also click here to send me an email directly.

Sincerely,

Rob
