Friend--
The Constitution gives the House of Representatives the “power of the purse” which allows for taxing and spending public money for the government. Over the past several years, the House has not passed appropriations bills in a timely manner resulting in government shutdowns and Continuing Resolutions. This cannot continue.
Each Congress, I introduce the No Budget, No Pay Act. This legislation would keep Members of Congress from receiving their salary if appropriations bills are not passed on time. It is especially detrimental for federal employees and the military when Congress does not pass a budget.
I will continue to work on behalf of the First District as I represent you in Congress.
