Friend, H.R. 1 delivers on the promises made to the American people. This bill delivers historic tax relief for hardworking Americans, and without it, we would have seen the largest tax hike in American history. Not only will H.R. 1 deliver historic savings, but it also unleashes pro-growth policies that strengthen the economy and protect taxpayers.  I want to highlight some of the serious consequences had H.R. 1 not passed.  If H.R. 1 had NOT passed, here are some of the harmful impacts we could have faced: On Workers and Families:The Child Tax Credit would have been cut in half for 40 million families.The over 60 percent of Americans working in occupations, like nurses, firefighters, and police, would not have received relief on their overtime pay Take-home wages wouldn’t have been increased up to $13,000 for American families. On Taxpayers:Taxes would have been increased by 22 percent for the average taxpayer.The guaranteed deduction would have been cut in half for 91% of all taxpayers.On Business Owners and Farmers:The federal tax rate would have increased to 43% for 26 million small businesses.The Death Tax Exemption would have been cut in half for two million family-owned farms.On Seniors:Tax relief for middle and low-income seniors would have been blocked.The increased deduction for Seniors of nearly $6,000 per year would have been blocked.Overall:The GDP would have decreased by $1 trillion.Critical investments to revolutionize our military to address 21st Century threats would have been blocked.America’s arsenal of munitions would have been depleted.American energy production would have decreased.U.S. energy security would have been decreased.Instead, with the passage of H.R. 1, Congress delivered for the American people and avoided harmful consequences. H.R. 1 provides historic tax relief for American workers, makes the largest investment in border security in a generation, reins in Washington’s waste, unleashes energy dominance, bolsters our military, and puts America back on a path to peace, strength, and prosperity.
