Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I do not believe Washington knows better than patients, families, and doctors how health care decisions should be made. Americans deserve the freedom to choose the care that works best for them—not a one-size-fits-all system dictated by federal bureaucrats.
More government command and control over health care would lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and higher costs. When Washington takes over complex systems, innovation slows, access is restricted, and costs rise for both families and taxpayers. That is not the direction our country should take.
Government-run health insurance doesn’t simplify health care—it makes it more confusing and less responsive to individual needs. It concentrates power in Washington, limits competition, and makes an already complicated system even harder for patients to navigate. Ultimately, it reduces choice and puts distance between patients and the care they need.
My approach is different. I believe patients—not politicians—should be in charge of their health care decisions. That means expanding choice, encouraging competition, strengthening local and rural health care providers, and fostering innovation that leads to better treatments and cures. It also means protecting seniors, veterans, children, and vulnerable populations without creating permanent dependency on Washington.
Health care reform should empower individuals, reward responsibility, and keep decisions close to home—not hand more control to the federal government.
Those principles guide my work in Congress, and they will continue to guide every health care decision I make.
Sincerely,

Rob Wittman
