Friend,
I wanted to make sure you were aware of upcoming Coast Guard movements to maintain their operations during the construction of the Gywnn’s Island Bridge.
In order to facilitate construction on the Gywnn’s Island Bridge, the Fifth Coast Guard District’s SECTOR Virginia will temporarily relocate assets, including the 45-foot Response Boat-Medium and the 49-foot Buoy Utility Stern Boat assigned to Station and Aids to Navigation Milford Haven. The 29-foot Response Boat and the Trailerable Aids to Navigation Boat will not be impacted by the construction project and will remain at Station Mildford Haven and Aids to Navigation Team Milford Haven.
These temporary movements will ensure the Coast Guard remains ready to support mariners in Mathews County and the surrounding areas. The Coast Guard is working closely with the Virginia Department of Transportation and other partnering agencies to minimize impacts to mariners. Once the Gywnn’s Island Bridge Construction Project is completed, the Coast Guard assets assigned to Station and Aids to Navigation Team Milford Haven will return back to their homeport.
I will continue to update you if anything regarding these temporary movements change.
Sincerely,
Rob
