Wittman Receives NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence
Washington,
June 23, 2017
WASHINGTON –Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) received the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence at a ceremony hosted at their manufacturing summit in Washington D.C. This award is in recognition of his voting record on key manufacturing issues and his understanding of the sector’s role in the economy. Congressman Wittman has been the recipient of this annual award since becoming a member of Congress in 2007, and has voted with NAM on key issues 89% of the time.
"I'm honored to receive this award and will work hard every day to support and represent pro-growth policies in the First District of Virginia. Controlled spending and limited government are both top priorities of mine, and I look forward to ongoing work and cooperation with groups like the NAM," Rep. Wittman said. "I remain committed to investing in small businesses to provide them with the tools they need to prosper, create jobs and escape the burdensome and unnecessary regulations that hinder growth” “Manufacturers in Virginia and across the country are changing lives for the better—through the jobs we create and the products we make. Manufacturing is about improving the human condition, one innovation at a time,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “Rep. Wittman is helping to make our success possible by standing with manufacturers when it matters and casting the right votes. “Manufacturers employ over 12 million men and women in the U.S., who are making everything from lifesaving medicines to the most cutting edge technology. The strength of manufacturing in America is responsible for the success of America in the world. When manufacturing succeeds, America succeeds, so Rep. Wittman’s consistent support for manufacturing means he is supporting a better future for all Americans.” Key Manufacturing Votes are chosen by NAM’s KVAC, which consists of 15 manufacturing executives, evenly divided between small and large companies, along with one member of the manufacturing association community. At the end of each Congress, eligible members of Congress whose records reflect percentages of 70 or higher in support of the NAM position on Key Votes will receive the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence. NAM’s KVAC selects votes related to the promotion of foreign investment, the expansion of global markets, and promoting innovation, investment, and productivity. The award recognizes members of Congress who support a pro-growth and pro-manufacturing policy agenda. For more information on the votes, please visit http://www.nam.org/votes/. Congressman Rob Wittman represents the 1st District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, where he is Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee. |
